This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: Isaiah 30:15 (NLT)
Today, I am thinking about the importance of keeping our eyes on Christ.
Recently, I shared with you how I was feeling so low lately, and how I felt like I was being hit from all angles with one lemon after the other. To top it off, it felt like I was praying to a silent God. Hence my downward spiral began.
What I needed was to be reminded to stop focusing on the pain. Focusing solely on the pain only creates more pain. Instead of falling into this cycle, Jesus teaches us to keep our eyes on him.
Recall Peter’s story when he was attempting to walk on water. As long as Peter kept his eyes on Christ, he was able to rise above the circumstances of the wind and the rain and simply walk toward Christ. Yet the moment he took his eyes off Christ and began to focus on his storm, he lost his balance and his downward spiral began.
When we feel entrenched in pain, as though we are being hit by one lemon after another, it can be difficult to shift our focus. But when we do, when we can pinch ourselves and look to Christ, the healing begins.
To help pull ourselves up, let us be inspired by these words: “Only in returning to me and resting in me, will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength.” Isaiah 30:15 (NLT)
Please share this reflection as others desire to be inspired.
So today, keep your eyes on Christ.
