This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: John 3:16 (TLB)
Today is Easter Sunday, or as many of us will say, Resurrection Sunday. Therefore, I am thinking about God’s living water—that water we can drink from and never thirst again.
The idea of God’s living water began intriguing me because I am continuing to study the passage detailing Jesus’ exchange with the Samaritan woman. At the well, Jesus told the woman all about living water.
She came down to the well with her pail and bucket to fetch water, and Jesus told her that if she turned to him, there was a water that he had, called living water, which would allow her to never thirst again.
This woman, as I will often remind everyone, had been married five times and was currently living with a man who was not her husband. However, that was not a barrier to her being able to partake in God’s living water.
At that point, after having this beautiful exchange, this woman actually experienced God’s living water.
When she learned that Christ was the Messiah, she left all the water that she had fetched from the well and ran back to get her entire town. If you’ve been listening during the week, you know that this woman, a Samaritan woman living in sin, converted an entire town.
Through this story, we see what is possible when we hold true to the living water when Christ gives us the opportunity. The words that I will cling to simply are, “For God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son, so that anyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 (TLB)
Please share this reflection as others desire to be inspired.
So today, celebrate your Easter Sunday and hold onto that living water.
