This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: 1 Peter 4:10 (ESV)

Today, I am thinking about how our life’s script has already been written.
Recently, we talked about having clarity as our life’s purpose. This is a common reflection that many of us have when we start a new year. Specifically, I talked about how Jesus emerged with a great sense of clarity after being tested and tempted by Satan for forty days and forty nights. One observation was that going through a period of testing can bring about a greater sense of clarity.
However, I also had another observation about this passage. When Jesus stood in the synagogue and said, “The spirit of the Lord is upon me. He has appointed me to preach the good news to the poor,” (Luke 4:18 NLT), he spoke clearly and definitively about his life’s purpose.
First, this was because he knew it to be true, but second, it was because he was also reading from a scroll that had been prophesied by Isaiah. In other words, his life’s purpose was already recorded. It had already been written down.
I believe the same is true for us; there is a calling on our lives that has already been written. Yet also recall Jesus’ words when he said, “The spirit of the Lord is upon me.” They were not about being of better service to himself but about being of service to others.
Therefore I ask you, how do you want your life’s chapter entitled 2019 to be more than just about you? As you reflect on that, remember these words, “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” 1 Peter 4:10 (ESV)
Please share this reflection as others desire to be inspired.
So today, get started on your chapter 2019.
