Some seasons leave you feeling pressed on every side. When answers are scarce, it’s easy to wonder what action is even left to take.
Paul and Silas show us a different kind of action. Bound, beaten, and tucked away in the deepest part of the prison, they had no visible path out. Yet their response wasn’t panic — it was praise. Before anything changed, before God moved, they prayed and sang hymns. Their worship became their act of faith.
And “suddenly” God responded — in a way no one could have imagined: a great earthquake shook the foundation of the prison. Even in a place that looked immovable, God shook what they could not.
When your hands feel tied, praise is still an action. It keeps your heart open to the God who can shake the foundation of your situation, suddenly.
As you reflect on this, remember these words: “I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.” Psalm 34:1 (ESV)
