This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.

Today I want you to know what a modern-day shepherd looks like.
The medical workers and first responders who are on the front line each day, risking their own lives to help save others during the COVID-19 pandemic, are our modern-day shepherds. In the absence of the personal protective equipment required to handle people with infectious diseases, many have resorted to using makeshift items, such as handmade face masks or wearing trash bags as gowns. One worker wore some of his recreational sports gear to protect himself.
I’ve heard many stories, but this little one really underscores the sacrifices that are being made. After working a 12-hour shift, this nurse was looking forward to seeing her child at home. However, her daughter has asthma. Because she didn’t know if her day’s work had caused her to become infected or not, she had to forego her front door hug and kiss because she didn’t want to risk infecting her own child.
This nurse stands out to me as a modern-day shepherd, serving as a vessel for God’s grace. In ancient times, the shepherd would physically lay across the front of the sheepfold, using his body to form a gate to protect the sheep inside.
As it is just days before Palm Sunday, let us remember the only shepherd who laid down his life for his sheep—even the sheep who abandoned him. Tune into the Blues to Blessings YouTube channel today, and use this message to inspire a frontline worker you may know. Before you do, remember these words: “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” John 10:11 (ESV)
Share today’s message and watch B Moments every Wednesday on the Blues to Blessings YouTube channel.
So today, honor them.
