This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: Colossians 3:23 (ESV)
Today I am thinking about all the ways we can serve in stewardship. Recently, I was told a story about a lady who works at a local train station in Chicago. During rush hour, this woman leaves her booth and comes out by the turnstile and greets the passengers. She makes an effort to know and learn about her passengers, and minister to them; whether she’s helping to expedite people’s train experience, making sure people make the train on time, or asking about a new born baby that was born a few months ago. She’s just out there, every day, making an effort to be personable and helpful to her passengers.
The person who told me this story spoke so highly of her that I was reminded that we can take our everyday job or our role in society, and turn that into our ministry. This woman’s name is not up in bright lights anywhere, but her light is truly shining. I’ve never even met her, yet I’m inspired enough to share her story. That’s when you know your light is shining, when perfect strangers are telling your story and speaking about your stewardship.
The Words that inspire me are “So, whatever you do, work heartily unto the Lord, and not for men.” Colossians 3:23 ESV
Tomorrow, let’s talk about a little sunshine. Please share this reflection with friends and family through your favorite social site or just pass it on in an email to that friend who has inspired you with their light.
And finally, today, let’s explore how we can be stewards in our everyday life.
