This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.

Today I am thinking about the single most important thing we should do when we’re embarking upon a new season.
Last week we marked the first day of spring. If you’re like me—someone who lives in a cold place like Chicago—you’re ecstatic about welcoming in spring and summer.
One thing I’ve learned about seasons is that there’s always proof when we move from one season to another. When we move from winter to spring, the sun is out longer, the temperatures are warmer, and the grass is greener.
In my life personally, you’ll even see a change in my closet. My bright blouses and open toe sandals will become front and center while my darker garments and boots fade to the back.
If we are to ask the same question in the spiritual realm, we should also have proof that we are moving into a new season. I have learned from firsthand experience that the single most important thing we can do to show that we are ready for our new season is to invite the Holy Spirit into our journey.
Sometimes, I can get so caught up in the newness of a new beginning itself—and the feeling of a springtime after a hard winter—that I just forget to seek the Holy Spirit first. Yet Jesus teaches us in John 14 that the Holy Spirit is sent as our Counselor, one that will never leave us and who leads into all truth.
The next time you feel you are on the cusp of change or a new season, hold onto these words: “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” John 14:26 (ESV)
Please share this reflection as others desire to be inspired.
So today, call on the Holy Spirit.
