This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: Isaiah 41:10 (ESV)
Today, I am thinking about the need to pivot back to God in order to find our strength.
This is exactly how I believe David felt when he and his men returned to their city after their defeat by and flight from Saul. After all of their hardships, they came back to find that the women and children of the city were missing. Imagine taking a trip that does not go well at all, then returning home to find that things are not terrific there either.
Sometimes, when we feel under attack like this, the first thing we need to do is have a good cry. The Scriptures say that when David and his men returned home, they wept until they couldn’t weep anymore.
Yet here’s the key: once David dried his tears, he then pivoted and turned back to God and His guidance. When he did this, he was finally able to regroup and find his strength.
The Scriptures say that David immediately gained clarity and wisdom about where to search for the missing women and children. During his search, David even asked God if he was on the right track, and God responded by telling him that he would surely recover everything taken from him.
It is evident that David gained strength after pivoting back to God, and that because of David’s faith, God restored everything that David and the men lost.
In the same way He aided David, God will help us, too. Therefore, let us cling to these words the next time we feel we need to regroup in His strength: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you…” Isaiah 41:10 (ESV)
Please share this reflection as others desire to be inspired.
So today, pivot back to God and find your strength in Him.
