This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: John 15:8 (ESV)
Today, I am thinking about where I am on my walk with the Lord.
I was pondering this as I was reading one of the parables that Jesus told the disciples in the Book of Mark. Jesus spoke of a farmer whose seeds fell on various pathways. As I read, I tried to figure out which type of pathway applied to me.
Jesus started by saying that there were some seeds that fell on a hard path. In the parable, that signified the people who would hear the Word of God, but then allow Satan into their hearts. Of course, I didn’t see myself–or any of you–as that path.
Then, Jesus said that some seeds fell on rocky soil, meaning the people that hear the Word of God and receive it, but then fail to stay by the Lord in difficult times. In other words, people who would wilt under pressure because their roots don’t go very deep. This is where I used to be.
Next, there is the thorny soil. This is where I believe myself to be. The thorny soil represents those who hear the Word, but too often allow it to be crowded out by other interests like personal ambitions and the desire for nice things.
Finally, there is the good soil which produces an abundance of crops. The good soil symbolizes not only receiving the Word, but living it such that we bring others into His fold.
The words that I use to guide me to the right path are, “By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be His disciples.” John 15:8 (ESV)
Please share this reflection as others desire to be inspired.
So today, think about which soil you are. What do you need to change to get where you want to be on your walk with the Lord?
