This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
Today, I am thinking about the various ways that God prepares us. Sometimes we’re being prepared, and we’re well aware of it. Other times God is preparing us, but we don’t realize it until after the fact. One example, is how He used sheep to prepare David for the great work that lay ahead in his life. David started out as a shepherd boy. His primary role was to provide food and water for his sheep, and to ensure they did not go astray. He also made sure they visited the salt lock to keep them healthy, and he protected them against external threats. God used sheep to teach David how to be a warrior-like king, and not a king in name only.
There have been times in my life where I felt like I was experiencing a humdrum period in my life. It felt like a period where no real action was taking place, and things did not appear to be advancing for me. What I didn’t realize was that God was using what I called “humdrum” to teach me discipline and to prepare me for the next level in my life. I only made this connection in hindsight.
The Words that inspire me are, “For I know the plans that I have for you; plans to prosper you and not to harm you.” Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
Tomorrow, let’s talk about how our words matter. Please pass this reflection on to those who are seeking the answers to the whys in their lives, and let’s support each other in the exciting times and the preparation times.
If you feel like your life is a little humdrum, remember, God is preparing you for what is ahead.
