This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.

I am on the road today, but I am reminding you that God is pruning you.
Recently I had one of those days that cause you to say, “Okay, Lord, what next?” Several days ago we had a very hard rain in Chicago and it caused my roof to leak. Even worse, the roof didn’t leak just anywhere; it leaked in the closet where my AC is stored. Now, I have no air conditioning, and it is over ninety degrees in Chicago.
Let me also add that if there are two household expenses you don’t want to incur at the same time, it is your roof and your AC or furnace. As all this is happening, my husband is traveling and, in the back of my mind, I’m thinking about how my son goes back to school next month.
While I’m sitting there waiting on the roofer and AC guy to arrive, thinking and worrying away, it dawned on me that if my question to God is, “Okay, God, what next?” then His response to me might be, “Suzette, how quickly you forget. Every time you turn to me to meet a need for you, I am here.
“Yet you encounter these life experiences and situations, and you become overwhelmed with worry each time. I have to prune you so that you will ultimately get to a place of peace. You will turn your burdens to me, and you will remember that I always have you.”
With that, I had to hold onto these words: “…every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.” John 15:2 (ESV)
