This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: Romans 8:28 (NLT)
This week, love is in the air, so I have been thinking a lot about self-love.
I will be the first to acknowledge that I’ve come a long way in this regard. I have often talked about not having a strong sense of self-worth, which greatly impacts self-love. This struggle seems to stem from some sense of shame around certain aspects of my past–even if that past was twenty years ago.
However, what I have learned is that a failure to forgive yourself directly impacts your ability to fully love yourself and to be a loving example for others. In other words, shame from the past is a stain on the heart.
So, I have been working on a different strategy for self-love. The pivotal idea for me was learning that all of my past–not just the beautiful parts–had a purpose.
If we can embrace that, and embrace God’s plan for our lives, then we are on our way to having a very strong sense of self-love.
If you, too, can relate to this struggle and the need to remind yourself that your past had a purpose, cling to these words: “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them.” Romans 8:28 (NLT)
Please share this reflection as others desire to be inspired.
So today, remember your past had a purpose and embrace it.
