This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: Proverbs 22:1 (ESV)
Today, I am thinking about how our reputation can be a form of worship.
This rang true for me when I was reading about Boaz and Ruth. As you may recall, Ruth’s mother-in-law, Naomi, lost her husband and two sons, so she decided to return to her hometown. However, Ruth didn’t want her to return home alone so she went with her.
One day, Ruth was working in the fields, and Boaz offered her food and water. She immediately began to try to figure out why he was being so kind to her. She didn’t know him and she was a foreigner in his land, so she couldn’t understand his kindness.
When she asked him why he was being so kind to her, he told her that he didn’t know her, but he knew about the love and kindness she had shown her mother-in-law.
In other words, he hadn’t met her personally, but he had met her reputation. He had been made aware of her kind and loving ways some time ago.
This is a good idea for us to reflect upon because when our reputation is solid, that is another way that we honor and worship God. In fact, we may even bring others to Him through our actions.
As we think about our reputation and what may need to be tweaked here and there, let us cling to these words: “A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches; and favor is better than silver or gold.” Proverbs 22:1 (ESV)
Please share this reflection as others desire to be inspired.
So today, make sure your reputation is a form of worship.
