Scripture reference: Matthew 6:33 (ESV)
Transcription:
Learning to shift our priorities can bring about true spiritual growth. This is precisely what happened to Peter when he chose to shift his priorities.
If you know anything about Peter, you know that he loved fishing. In good times, Peter would happily fish, and when he was down, he would retreat to fishing.
One night, Peter and some disciples went fishing but didn’t catch anything. An unsuccessful fishing trip was a big deal to someone like Peter.
At dawn, Jesus appeared on the shore and told Peter and the disciples to throw their nets on the right side of the boat, and there would be plenty of fish.
Yet the moment Peter saw Christ appear on the shore, he threw on his tunic, jumped overboard, and swam to join Jesus. At that moment, Peter clarified that fish were no longer the most essential thing in his life. His priorities had shifted.
As you reflect on that and think about some priorities of yours that might need to shift in the new year, remember these words: “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33 (ESV)
This has been your B Moment. Your moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
