This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: James 4:8 (ESV)
Today I am appreciating the small signs from God. This reflection is coming up for me from my direct communication with Him.
I have talked before about the importance of having an intimate relationship with God and sometimes even a raw relationship with God. The raw part of my relationship with God can come up when things are not going well and I am feeling overwhelmed.
Sometimes I might even feel as if God is not recognizing the sacrifices I’ve made, or the pressure that I’m under. Or perhaps, I feel as if He isn’t taking account all of the things that I’m going through. When this happens I will have one of these raw conversation with Him. I’ll will have this overwhelming need to say, “OK Father, what’s going on? Where are you?”
The flip side of this raw relationship with God is the everyday, intimate-like relationship with Him. Though I don’t talk about it often, lately I have been truly noticing the communication that I have with Him when all is well. This is the type of communication I have with Him when things are going well. Maybe I need Him to help me through something but it’s not significant. I’m not down on my knees begging. It’s a constant ebb and flow and knowledge that He is there.
What I have found is that this kind of communication really keeps the intimacy part of my relationship with Him alive. It helps me to just turn over those everyday things to Him and walk in peace.
Our relationship with God is not just about being in relationship with Him when things are going awry. It is for the simple reasons of day to day life. Watch for the small signs from Him as you keep him in your daily life.
The Words that I use to encourage me are, “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.” James 4:8 (ESV)
Share this reflection with others so that they may also be encouraged.
So today, take your intimate relationship with God to another level, and look for the small signs. Watch Him respond to you in the smallest of ways and know that it is Him.
