This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NIV)
Today I am thinking about those things that can drain our time. I honestly believe that I’m about to say something that might be unpopular. Social media, if not used carefully, can be an incredible time sink. The positive side of being on social media, of course, is that it keeps us connected with family and friends and allows us to share positive and memorable moments that might ordinarily have not been shared.
If we are not careful, however, social media can really drain our time.
I happen to be in relationship with people who are connected a majority of the time. I think about some of the new opportunities they could be foregoing because their minds are so preoccupied with creating and responding to the various posts across several social media platforms.
When I turn to the Scriptures, I reflect on David and how he spent his time. Even though much of his life was spent in a warrior-like mode, he was also a gifted harp player. He was a good dancer. He even spent time honing his archery skills. David really shows us, that despite all that was going on, he still knew how to use his time wisely and employ a spirit of moderation.
The Words that remind us of this are, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NIV)
Please share this reflection with others as they also desire to be inspired.
So today, ask God for the strength to moderate that thing that has become a time sink in your life.
