This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: Ephesians 2:10 (ESV)
Today, I am thinking about the power of standing in our truth.
I had this thought as I was listening to a candidate make a presentation as to why she should be elected to my son’s local school council.
There were a number of extremely impressive candidates who had gone before her, including a few lawyers, former and current local school council officeholders, and several accountants. So, this parent stepped forward knowing that she didn’t have the credentials of the parents who had gone before her.
However, what she did have was a deep passion and the capacity to serve the children in the school.
She lit the room up.
She gave examples of how she tirelessly motivated those around her, of how she would reach out to parents if elected, and of the way she had participated in various fundraising efforts.
When she stepped up there, she stood in her truth. She didn’t compare herself to the credentials of others, or even feel small in their presence. Instead she stayed true to herself and her strengths.
After the voting, I realized that many of the attorneys didn’t make it to the council, but this woman, who had stood powerfully in her own light, was elected unanimously.
She reminds us of the importance of standing in our truth, just like these words that I’d like us to cling to: “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10 (ESV)
Please share this reflection as others desire to be inspired.
So today, no matter the appearances, stand in your truth.
