This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.

Today I am encouraging you to step out in faith rather than in fear.
Sometimes we can become so afraid to take that next step because we can’t see around the corner, so we stay trapped in fear and miss venturing out. Other times, we do step out, but we step out in fear rather than in faith.
This is what the widow the prophet Elijah visited had to learn. At the time of his visit, there was a severe drought going on. However, when Elijah greeted the widow, he asked her for a cup of water and also a piece of bread.
The widow did what a logical person would do. She assessed the ingredients she had to make the bread and realized there wasn’t enough. In fact, she told Elijah that she only had a handful of flour and a drop of cooking oil left. She confessed that she had planned to cook this last meal for her son and herself, and then she had planned to die.
The widow was stepping out in fear to prepare her last meal. Yet Elijah stopped her in her tracks and told her to cook that last meal but to bake him a loaf of bread first. In other words, he was telling her to instead step out in faith. When she did this, she saw that there was plenty of oil and flour to last her through the drought.
Today if you need to be inspired to step out in faith, visit the Blues to Blessings website and take our faith challenge, which takes only 3-4 minutes to complete. Also, watch me on the Blues to Blessings YouTube channel as I use a gumbo analogy to express my own fear with stepping out in faith.
Before you do, hold onto these words: “I sought the Lord and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears.” Psalm 34:4 (NIV)
