Scripture reference: Psalm 34:18 (ESV)

Loss at any level is never easy to endure, but sudden loss can be especially painful to overcome.
When I turn to the Scriptures, I think about the loss of King Uzziah, one of the most beloved leaders of all time in Judah. Because he served for almost fifty years, he was the only leader many of Judah’s citizens had ever known. So, they were very concerned about what life would be like without King Uzziah.
I think the same can be true for us. When we lose a parent, spouse, or sibling, they are the only parent, spouse, or sibling we’ve ever known, so we worry about how we will adjust to the future.
God instructed Isaiah to let the people of Judah know He would be the one to take care of their needs. In the same way, He knows what we feel when we endure loss, and He is taking care of us, too.
As you think about that, remember these words: “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18 (ESV)

This was so on target for me. Lost my best friend, Mildred, a few months ago. Still missing her so much.
