There comes a moment in your spiritual transformation when what once felt essential begins to lose its grip. Peter knew that moment well. Fishing had shaped his identity for years — his work, his rhythm, his refuge. And on that morning, after an empty night, the nets suddenly overflowed with more fish than he’d likely ever caught. It was the kind of catch that would have thrilled him any other day.
But not this day.
Because when Peter realized it was Jesus standing on the shore, the miracle in the nets wasn’t the miracle that mattered. He didn’t stay to secure the fish or celebrate the abundance. He threw on his tunic, jumped into the water, and ran toward the One who was transforming who he was becoming.
That’s what true transformation does — it shifts your priorities toward His presence.
As you reflect on this, remember these words: “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33 (ESV)
