Scripture reference: Philippians 4:19 (ESV)
Transcription:
One day, Job’s three friends came to comfort him and were shocked at his terrible condition.
With good intentions, the first friend tried to explain why Job was suffering. The second friend claimed he suffered because he hadn’t admitted his sins. The third friend believed God was using Job’s suffering to mold and train him. Though their words might have some truth, they were based on wrong assumptions.
Sometimes, when we want to comfort someone, we explain their lives, but we don’t know what is really going on; only God knows. In these moments, we can offer comfort through a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, a good laugh, and a good prayer.
Here are some comforting words to share with a person who is in need:
“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 (ESV)
