This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: Galatians 6:9 (ESV)
Today, I am thinking about what to do when we feel as though we’ve been thrown for a loop.
Earlier this week, I talked about my two single girlfriends. While one girlfriend is quite content with being single, the other is unhappy and wishes to remarry.
Sometimes, when God doesn’t show up—to bless us with a husband, for instance—we can be inclined to simply give up. This can especially be the case when we feel like we’ve just been thrown for a loop.
I wonder if this is how Joseph felt when he was in prison. He believed that God was going to work in one specific way, but then He didn’t.
In the Scriptures, Joseph met the cupbearer while in prison and ended up doing a favor for him: he interpreted the cupbearer’s dream. Joseph’s only request was, once the cupbearer got released (the man was going to be freed before Joseph), he should remember Joseph and ask Pharaoh to release him from prison.
However, once the cupbearer got out of jail, he forgot all about Joseph.
In that moment, Joseph must have felt that he had been thrown for a loop. That was the perfect opportunity for him to be released as he had done a favor for the cupbearer.
Yet God didn’t come in through that door.
Joseph remained steadfast, though, keeping his heart, spirit, and mind in the right place, and he was later liberated with the help of God.
The next time you feel like you’ve been thrown for a loop, cling to these words: “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9 (ESV)
Please share this reflection as others desire to be inspired.
So today, keep your hopes high.
