This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: Proverbs 3:5 (ESV)
Today, I am thinking about how it’s time for us to take off our spiritual training wheels.
This week, I’ve been talking about what God will do for us when He has called us to a greater assignment. For example, we’ve talked about how He’ll change a person’s heart. Today, let’s recognize the fact that He will also remove any crutches that we normally rely on so that we can put our sole trust and alliance in Him.
As we know, when God called Gideon to save the Israelites, Gideon was already frightened to death and felt as though he was very unqualified for the job.
Then, while Gideon remained scared and doubtful, God reduced his army by 99%. His weapons were mere torches and trumpets, and his military strategy, according to the Scriptures, was simply to stand still.
In other words, everything that Gideon could have trusted in was removed. God wanted Gideon to trust Him and only Him because when we trust God, anything is possible.
As we already know, Gideon, despite his fear, was victorious. Therefore, the whole story begins to read like an adult telling a child that it is time to take off the training wheels since the strength already exists inside them. Even though it’s scary at first, it is exhilarating to graduate to the level of riding with no hands and the wind in your hair.
As we think about that visual, let us cling to these words and be inspired: “Trust in Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5 (ESV)
Please share this reflection as others desire to be inspired.
So today, take off those training wheels.
