This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.

Today I am encouraging you to learn something new this summer.
Maybe there is a class you’ve been wanting to take, but you continually put off due to other commitments. There are also those times when we postpone learning something new because we become locked into a routine of activities that drain our time rather than enrich our lives.
My comments here may be a little unpopular, but social media, if not used carefully, can be an incredible time sink. The positive side of being on social media is that it does keep us connected with family and friends, and it allows us to share positive and memorable moments that might not ordinarily be shared. Yet if we’re not careful, social media can drain our time and keep us from those activities that enrich our lives.
When I turn to the Scriptures, I reflect on David and how he spent his time. Even though much of his life was spent in warrior mode, he was also a gifted harp player and a good dancer. He even spent time honing his archery skills. David really sets an example for us because despite all that was going on in his life, he always made time to learn something new.
This summer, press through the temptation to keep doing the same old thing, and treat yourself to a new enrichment. As you reflect on that, remember these words: “Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance.” Proverbs 1:5 (ESV)
