Unplug to Connect with Others

B Moments, unplug

This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.

Scripture reference: Proverbs 17:22 (ESV)

Today, I am thinking that it is time to unplug.

Typically, I am wired to use any downtime I have to catch up on work. If it’s a holiday period or a long weekend, I participate in one or two family events, but am constantly thinking about how much work I can get caught up on.

However, I have recently decided to live a little differently. I am going to respect the fact that there is time to unplug from all of the devices that I have, and instead use that time to connect with those around me. Not only will I connect with my neighbors and acquaintances, but also those who live under the same roof.

I’m even guilty of being plugged in during our mealtime. Although I have dinner with my sons, I unfortunately bring a device with me to the table on occasion. When this happens, I’ll have one eye on the person I’m having a conversation with, and the other eye on the phone.

One of the things we know about walking the path with Christ is that when we realize we can do something better, we work on getting better, and we own it. What I realized recently is that I need to focus on unplugging, so that’s what I am going to do.

I am going to use these very simple words to keep me on track, and I’ll ask you to join me in clinging to these words: “A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” Proverbs 17:22 (ESV)

Please share this reflection as others desire to be inspired.

So today, join me and unplug.

I love you Sue Webb! Pray for me today as I go before some very important people who fervently care about the quality of education for the youngsters in my community. Please say my name in your powerful prayers. As I know, if this is meant for me it shall be for me. Sue Webb you are my true gift from God. Then, I will unplug ? ??
