Who Do You Put First?

B Moment, order

B Moment, order

This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.

Scripture reference: Matthew 6:33 (ESV)

Today, I am appreciating the rewards of putting God first.

Recently, I talked about assessing where I am on my spiritual walk. This discussion stemmed from a parable I read about planting seeds in various types of soil.

As I said before, I see myself as the thorny soil type. Thorny soil represents those who appreciate and receive God’s Word, but sometimes allow it to be crowded out by personal ambitions and other interests.

Then, I had an epiphany. I noticed that when I started my day with a particular ritual, I behaved less like the thorny soil and was able to remember that God should be my primary concern.

The ritual that reminds me of my priorities is saying, “Him, me, them.”

That means I start my day with the Lord–Him. Usually, this means I study the Scriptures; in fact, that is where most of the B moments are born.

The second part–me–means I get in some form of exercise. Finally, them means everything and everyone else comes after.

What I have learned is that on those days when I put God first from the very beginning through prayer or by reading the Scripture, the whole day stays on a better path. It sets the right energy for the rest of my day and I am able to remember what is most important. I even feel that I am more optimistic and open on the days when I have Him, me, them in order.

The words I use to guide me in this are, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33 (ESV)

Please share this reflection as others desire to be inspired.

So today, start by remembering Him, me, them.

Him is ALWAYS first in my day. But on the occasions when He is not, you’re right, my day is out of sorts. My best day is when I connect with God first. I also like your Him-Me-Them order. I’m working on a new 2017 schedule and structure This order will come in handy!?
