Scripture reference: Proverbs 2:8
Transcription:
Proverbs 2 opens with: “My child, listen to me and treasure my instruction…tune your ears to wisdom and concentrate on understanding…Search for them as you would for lost money or hidden treasure.” Sometimes, it becomes necessary to step back and ask yourself – “Who has my ear?”
One might assume that God always had the ear of the great prophet Elijah. Elijah dwelled in God’s presence and moved only according to God’s commands, signifying that God alone had his ear. However, even Elijah succumbed to fear when Jezebel threatened his life. Elijah no longer listened to God’s guidance but was consumed by Jezebel’s threat, fleeing for his life. In this brief moment, the forces of the world had Elijah’s ear.
Scripture instructs us to seek wisdom and understanding diligently, as “you would for lost money or hidden treasure.” And this wisdom and understanding are only revealed to you when God has your ear. In His presence, you become empowered with wisdom, insight, and understanding. In His presence, you are reassured of His everlasting love and His ever-present help in times of need, so there’s no need for you to fret but every reason to praise Him.
As you reflect on that, remember these words: “He guards the paths of the just and protects those who are faithful to him.” Proverbs 2:8
