This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: 1 Corinthians 14:20 (ESV)
Today, I am thinking about the fruits of Jesus’ teachings.
This week, we’ve been discussing all of the ways God comforts us. We talked about how He will respond promptly to a situation or will turn around a dire situation.
Another way He comforts us is through His teaching. That was exactly what Jesus did when he sat in the boat and taught the people who sat on the shore like his children.
One of the parables he taught them on that day was about the farmer who planted seeds. He told them that some of the farmer’s seeds fell on the hard footpath, representing how an enemy may snatch the understanding of God’s word before a person’s heart can embrace it.
Jesus went on to say that some of the seeds fell on the shallow part of the soil, representing how some hear God’s word but struggle to act on it with any depth. Meanwhile, other seeds fell on the thorny ground, representing how many people embrace God’s word but that it is then crowded out by the other cares of this life.
Finally, he told the people that there were seeds that fell on good soil. That represented those who embrace the word and produce a huge harvest from it.
As I read the parable, I realized that after Jesus teaches us, it is time to graduate to the next level. Which seeds are you? Will you keep evolving and pushing to the next level? As you think about that, consider these words: “Brothers, do not be children in your thinking. Be infants in evil, but in your thinking be mature.” 1 Corinthians 14:20 (ESV)
Please share this reflection as others desire to be inspired.
So today, will you graduate to the next level?
