This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.

I am out of the studio today, but I am reminding you that God will provide for you in the absence of others.
This is exactly what He did with the widow who went to the prophet Elisha. This woman had recently lost her husband and, because of her debt, a creditor was coming to her house to take her two children.
Indebtedness was a common problem throughout the ancient Near East and could often result in a loss of property and, ultimately, the debtor’s freedom. In many instances, the next of kin would intervene, but in the widow’s situation, there was an apparent absence of kin.
Desperate and not knowing where else to turn, the widow turned to the prophet Elisha, as her husband used to work for him. Elisha asked her what she had. She responded that she had nothing at all but a flask of olive oil.
He instructed her to go to all of her friends and neighbors and borrow as many empty vessels as she could. When she returned, he told her to pour the olive oil from the flask into the empty jars until all the jars were filled to the brim.
Then, Elisha told her to sell the olive oil, pay her debts, and support herself and her sons on the money left over. In the absence of her husband and any next of kin, God stepped in and provided for her.
Are you looking at an area in your life that needs provision? Worry no more because the God who existed during the days of the widow is the same God of today who will do the same for you.
As you are comforted by that, remember these words: “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 (ESV)
