Scripture reference: Philippians 4:13 (ESV)

Over the years, I have come to really appreciate what’s possible when I take a smaller step toward a larger goal. Sometimes, shifting to a new path only requires a pivot and not a giant leap.
This was exactly the type of decision David was faced with when his men brought him a drink offering. One day, David expressed to three of his mightiest warriors that he longed for a drink from the well in Bethlehem. Yet when David learned that his men had risked their lives to get the water for him, he made the small act of pouring it all out on the ground.
David made a small choice to forego his flesh and to offer the precious water as an offering to God. David’s small decision led him to set a great example for his men and ultimately go deeper with God.
What small choice will you make today? As you think about that, remember this timeless verse: “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 (ESV)
