Scripture reference: John 7:24 (ESV)

We’re all guilty of making snap judgments. Regrettably, I just made one the other day.
This was also a lesson the disciples had to learn after they made a snap judgment about the woman who chose to pour her very expensive perfume over Jesus’ head.
The Scriptures say the disciples were indignant when they saw this. They quickly assessed that it was a waste of money because she could have sold the perfume for a fortune and given it to the poor.
Jesus surprised them by asking them why they criticized her for doing something good for him. She poured perfume on him to prepare his body for burial.
The disciples made a snap judgment about this woman, not realizing she was serving God’s purpose.
What situation in your life are you making a snap judgment about? Could it be something that is there to prepare you, to strengthen you, and to give you constancy? Is it there for God’s purpose?
As you think about that, remember these words: “Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.” John 7:24 (ESV).
