This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: James 1:12 (ESV)
Today, I am thinking about how our testimony doesn’t really start until we are told “no.”
Some time ago, I shared the story about a newly published author who was told “no” thirteen times before she finally signed her publishing deal.
I am still thinking about this because we know that her story ends with a “yes,” but her testimony is not the “yes.” Her testimony is all the times she was told “no,” and what inspired her to persevere through thirteen difficult “no’s” to get to her “yes.”
When I turn to the Scriptures, I think about Moses going before Pharaoh to ask him to release the Israelites from slavery. Moses’ situation was even more challenging in some ways because Pharaoh initially told Moses “yes.” However, God eventually hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and his “yes” became a “no.”
It’s really difficult to get your hopes up and be told “yes,” only for it to eventually become a “no.” This happened to Moses ten times. Yet here’s the key: he trusted God at every “no.”
If you’re being told “no” about something, know that you’re one less “no” away from your “yes.” As you continue to stay that course, cling to these words: “Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.” James 1:12 (ESV)
Please share this reflection as others desire to be inspired.
So today, keep pressing towards your “yes.”
